One of the main principles of the Order of Eastern Star is to be charitable. Each of our chapters plans a variety of service projects and community outreach in their calendar each year. Below is an outline of what we are working on for the 2024- 2025 God's Country year.
Adah: Service Dogs
North Dakota Order of Eastern Star donates to Service Dogs for America located in Jud, ND. Service Dogs for America has a vision to be part of a society in which individuals with disabilities are fully able to participate in social, educational and occupational opportunities, it is the only accredited nonprofit provider of service dogs in North Dakota. Ruth: ESTARL
The Eastern Star Training Awards for Religious Leadership is a scholarship for those who are going to school for the purpose of religious training. To apply for the ESTARL scholarship contact the Grand Secretary.
Esther: American Heart Association
The American Heart Association in North Dakota wants to ensure everyone in North Dakota has the opportunity to live longer, healthier lives. North Dakota Grand Chapter supports the Heart Association in their mission with charitable donations. American Heart Association
Martha: Food Pantry
The Great Plains Food Bank has a mission to end hunger together with a goal of a hunger-free North Dakota. North Dakota Grand Chapter supports the Great Plains Food Bank with charitable donations. The food bank is able to make our donations go further with their buying power than we could with the donation of food items. Great Plains Food Bank
Electa: Youth
In North Dakota there are two Masonic Youth Organizations that receive support from North Dakota Order of Eastern Star, DeMolay International and the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. We support these organizations with charitable donations to their state organizations as well as scholarships for its members. DeMolay International International Order of the Rainbow for Girls
Special Projects:
The Worthy Grand Patron Mason's special project is The Trevor Project, which provides crisis support, research, public education, advocacy, and peer support for LGBTQ+ young people. The mission of the Trevor Project is to end suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning young people with a vision of a world where all LGBTQ+ young people see a bright future for themselves. Quilts are being raffled off this year as fundraiser for the Trevor Project as well as Service Dogs.
